Softball!

Friday, 26 February 2010

Okay, first things first, sorry guys for not having been posting regularly as I could not find the time to because of the nature of a Hwa Chong iSpark student. Haha, i am sure many of you are also trying to publish your blog posts today. Anyway, on the 18th of Febuary 2010, the day has finally arrived and we were finally going to get our CCA options back. My first choice was naturally softball considering how I am more of a sporty person. As much as my brother tried to persuade me to put NPCC/NCC as first choice, I did not listen as I was seriously afraid of the physical stress that it will put on my body. As far as I am concerned, I have not regretted my choice.

Firstly, from what I hear from my classmates and friends, NPCC/NCC are both very tiring and my legs would definitely have failed me if I had joined, for that I am greatful. I cannot imagine what it would feel like to be made to do 20 push-ups in one breath. I am THAT weak. I know I am seriously weak.

Secondly, softball training is very fun. Ok, I have a few friends from Primary school in softball too who joined softball and before I picked it, I actually went to find out more from them and it seemed a decent sport, but after the first few trainings, I knew it was not just good it was fantastic. Basically, due to the Youth Olympic Games, all nationals have to pushed forward therefore within the first few trainings, my coach has to pick a team of 15 including 10 secondary 2s. So basically I had quite a fair chance considering that only 13 people got into the ep3 but somehow I did not perform well during the trainings, I was mediocore. Basically, I personally find my batting still quite well, except I cannot really muster enough power behind the ball to hit it far and wide. But my fielding needs a lot of improvement, I always go down too slow and my footwork messes up if I do far too many times. For example, if I was made to collect a row of 4 balls 5 times, by the 4th time I am probably going to lose my balance somewhere. So yeah, as you might have figured out from my description, I was outside of the 5, which effectively just told me that I could concentrate on my studies this year.

Well, there might still be hope next year I guess, where most secondary twos will make the team, I want to do well, I hope to do well, but I seriously need to get into the team!
