Resorts World Singapore.

The Resorts World Singapore finally opened its doors today after much anticipation for the project from the public. The project would be opening in stages, with first the casino, 2 hotels and 10 Food and beverages stores opening around 2 weeks ago.It is a much awaited project but has it lived up to its hype. Definitely, as from the newspapers it was possible to see that hordes of people were rushing to enter the casino. Will it succeed, with lousy planning like that experienced on the opening day where not enough gaming tables were opened, leaving the gaming tables too crowded, and also leaving many people waiting outside of the casino, it will not be a big hit, but I am quite certain they will improve.
However, there is still many competitors in this market. Many people would still prefer Genting over Singapore Firstly, in Malaysia $1000 is equivalent to RM2000+. Therefore, gamers can play more rounds, raise stakes even higher, and thus make a larger profit. Secondly, there is a $100 levy for entering the casinos. Bank analyst Bernard Tay stated, "One of the deterrents (for RWS) is the $100 casino levy. You step into the casino losing $100 - That's a lousy feeling." (pg 6 Weekend TODAY 13th - 14th Feb 2010) Last but not least, going to Genting is like a holiday away from Singapore.
Many people would also chose private gambling places as there would be less people crowding around you, and bystanders would not be looking at your cards which makes it more relaxing and peaceful. Another point to note is the fact that you do not have to pay the levy too. Therefore it is possible that people would choose a private game at home than at the grand casino.
As for me personally, I am only looking forward to the world’s largest ocean aquarium and mainly the universal studios where I will get my share fun being able to ride the many rides unique to universal studios Singapore. I really hope they come out soon!
